Today we’re going to learn how to send a single email of a past newsletter to a new subscriber in MailChimp.
So last night I went to a networking meeting. And I met somebody who was very interested in what I do and they asked me to send them my last newsletter. I just sent a newsletter 2 or 3 days ago so I’m going to send them that newsletter and this is how you do it. You go into lists and click on the little profile guy and it going to add the subscriber. I’m going to add myself. Then I’m going to click down here on “This person gave me permission to be added to my list.” Usually MailChimp is a double opt-in, which means that when someone signs up for your newsletter they will get an email that says “please confirm your subscription”.
When you manually add a subscriber it’s a single opt in, so they will not receive that confirmation email. So I subscribe them. MailChimp is now assuming you have permission to add this subscriber to your newsletter send list.
And now go into campaigns. I’m going to go to the last email I sent. I’m going to replicate this. I’m not going to send to the entire list. I’m going to send to a brand new segment. MailChimp makes this really easy because it’s going to come up automatically … Subscribers match any of the following: Date added is after the last campaign was sent. And there is one recipient in this segment. You don’t really need to check this but I’m going to show you that this was the person that we added, it was me.
I usually do refresh the count because sometimes the count is not correct so I will refresh the count. I don’t go through the set up. I don’t go through the template. I don’t go through the design. I’ve already sent this newsletter out. I know that it’s set up correctly and it looks good already. So what I’m going to do is confirm this now. I can send this out 1 of 2 ways … I can schedule this to go out like at 8 tomorrow morning so that it hits their inbox first thing or I can send it to go out right this moment. And that’s what I’m going to choose because I want them to know that I thought their contact with me was valuable. So I want to make sure they know I made a special effort to send this to them. So I’m going to send now. And that’s how you send a one-off email of a past newsletter or eblast.
